Scarborough Fair

Posted by brunoxi - July 15th, 2009

EDIT: I've only gotten a couple of submissions so far. When submitting, please let me know your NG account, so I know who's who, ok?

Well, I'm content this time around.

After listening to some users in private messages, I do think the first one was a 'BIT' outdone (stretch BIT as much as you can). So I've revamped the song, and stuck to something that's 'singable' I guess you could say. Then there's just a 1-minute electronic ending to it. But I think it came out fairly decent.

Now here's where I need YOUR help. I'd like some vocalists to volunteer (hey now, I'm not gonna be able to pay ya!) for the song. Think of it this way though, you'll be able to add to your repertoire!!!

Anywho, the two links below are the links to the song. And YES, I DID UPLOAD ONE OF MYSELF SINGING, SO YOU CAN'T FEEL EMBARRASSED IF YOU PARTAKE IN THIS JOURNEY! I'm right there with ya.

EDIT: I CAN CHANGE THE SCALE OF THE SONG AT ANY COST. I ORIGINALLY RECORDED IN G DORIAN, BUT AM PLANNING TO TRY A B MINOR/MAJOR VERSION LATER TONIGHT OR LATER THIS WEEK, AND IF IT SOUNDS ***MUCH*** BETTER, REPLACE THE CURRENT VOCALS THAT ARE UP. THE G SCALE SIMPLY HAD ME SHIFTING WAY TOO MUCH!

Now, as far as contacting me, send me a PM and I'll give you my e-mail address. Go ahead and contact me, and I'll try to find a way that we can share an MP3 file back and forth of just your recording and whatnot. If you're embarrassed about tonality, like I said, I have GSnap installed, and I will try to use it to the best of my ability to bring you into tone (believe me I HEAVILY NEEDED IT for MY run). The song is in G Dorian, a little more advanced than minor, but nonetheless it is affixed to easily with autotuning.

Make a subject of the like: SCARBOROUGH FAIR VOLUNTEER

I'll then be like....OOH e-YAY! And we'll take it from there. If only a few people contact me, I'll probably post all of the renditions, however if there is a lot (although I HIGHLY doubt it), I'll only post like the top 6 or so.

Anyways, enough of my rambling...I wish you all luck, and I thank you for taking the time to read this. Should you decide to help me out in vocalizing this song, you have my eternal thanks!

Sincerely,
~Xi

Lyric List:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine

Tell him to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Without no seams nor needle work
Then he'll be a true love of mine

Have him wash it in yonder dry well
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Where ne'er a drop of water e'er fell
And then he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between salt water and the sea strands
Then he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him to reap it with a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
Then he'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine
